November 2024 Newsletter

posted in: BPCCRA Newsletters 0

I hope by now most members will have received their copy of the Winter 2024 “Pines & Chines” although we still have a few to be delivered. My thanks to John Gunton for another excellent edition, and to all our contributors and advertisers who make it possible.

Our hard-working Treasurer, secretary and membership secretary are working to improve our rather complex admin systems. We will shortly close down our Santander account; many thanks to those have moved their subscription payment from Santander to our main Barclay Account.

To help our Membership Secretary Pamela Carvell pampasmark@aol.com  bring our membership records up to date we would be as change of address or bereavement. We also wish to ensure that the grateful if members could ensure that we are informed of any change in personal circumstances such email addresses we have are up to date and correct.

As members know, as well as planning issues, our Association is concerned in matters that affect our environment and matters concerning road safety in our area.

Our Special Projects Co-ordinator, Vicky Moss, as well as being the contact with our Pinecliff gardening team is also Community Speed Watch (CSW) Co-ordinator.

Regarding Pinecliff Gardens, a large quantity of garden mulch has been ordered and has been spread with the help the charity “The Good Gym” to help maintain the plants that make the sunken garden so attractive.

Vicky’s news from her work with CSW is not so encouraging. During a recent session on Pinecliff road more 40 speeders were recorded in an hour.

A number serious accidents have been reported including a mother knocked down outside All Saints nursery on Western Road; just one example of a number recently.

We will keep pressure on the authorities to improve road safety measures in our area; hopefully they can be persuaded to take action before someone gets killed.

Finally, a call for more volunteers to help our hard working committee members.

We could use someone to help our editor with “Pines & Chines”, possibly with dealing with our advertisers; someone to assist our membership secretary in the task of updating our “Pines & Chines” distribution lists and always more help at the Pine Cliff Gardens.

Just let me know if you would like to explore the possibilities further.
