May 2024 Newsletter

posted in: BPCCRA Newsletters 0

Firstly, thanks to all those who attended and helped to make our 2024 AGM a success, and a special thankyou to those who helped to organise and set it up.

The IT gremlins struck again and despite valiant efforts, one of our speakers, Martin Baker, wasn’t able to use his Power Point presentation. We are partially making up for this by attaching Martin’s presentation to this Newsletter.

I am also pleased to announce that we now have a new Hon Secretary; Andrea Charman. Andrea originally came from Poole but spent a fascinating career in various parts of the world, including 10 years in Japan! She has returned to Poole and now lives in our Ward. I have no doubt that she will get the Chairman properly organised.

Our long serving Membership secretary, Mike Parkin has expressed a wish to stand down, and I am pleased to say that another member Chrissie Paterson has agreed to take on the role. Chrissie has had a long career in the NHS and knows Poole well.

A warm welcome to both of them.

Next BPCCRA Meeting Date:

Wednesday 12th June 2024; usual place; St Aldhelm’s Church Hall committee room; usual time 7-30 pm.

There will be various updates, including the written opinion from the specialist barrister we have briefed regarding the Beach Road Carpark issue, which we should receive towards the end of May.

It will also be a chance to meet our new Exec committee members and say thankyou to those standing down.

Hopefully our new Ward Councillor, Gavin Wright (gavin.wright@bcpcouncil.gov.uk) will be able to attend and introduce himself.

You should already have received John Harkness’s Planning review for the month; you can ask John any questions at our June meeting.
