This month has seen changes to the BCP Planning Portal infrastructure, which have made retrieving information and tracking important applications more challenging. Due to this system upgrade, there was a period of downtime in the application process, resulting in a particularly busy March after a quieter February.
The significant applications this month reflect the ongoing trend of site intensification, with several contentious proposals seeking to replace single dwellings with blocks of apartments. While some designs adopt a more traditional approach, concerns persist regarding increased density, material choices, and potential impacts on landscaping.
While many applications are well-considered, the Association has submitted objections to ensure that BCP reviews them thoroughly and adheres to the standards they have set. For instance, we have raised concerns about garage sizes not meeting the dimensions specified in the BCP Parking Standards SPD.
The Association will continue to review planning applications within the Canford Cliffs Ward, ensuring that new developments contribute positively to the local area.
