It’s Spring (officially!) and the diary continues to fill.
Firstly, an invitation; Café Deuce is opening at the Branksome Park Tennis Club and new owner Lisa would be delighted to welcome Association members at the official opening on Sunday March 10th; they will be open all day. It is good to see our area getting another useful and positive facility.
- Diary date; the association’s AGM is confirmed as 12th April 2025, 10 am Canford Cliffs Village Hall.
Apart from the formal AGM items, we will hear from our MP on his activities on our behalf, an update on the government’ plans for “improving” the planning processes and how local government reorganisation might impact on us. Our two hard working Ward Councillors will be there to keep us up to date on the battles they have been fighting and the Mayor of Christchurch or a fellow Christchurch Town Councillor will talk about the pros and cons of having an active Town Council. - As always, refreshments will be served!
- Pines and Chines; Our new editor, Annabel, is beavering away at the summer issue. There is still time to get your contribution to her info@pinesandchines.co.uk
- Street Wardens; We continue to update our vital team of Street wardens and intend to appoint a Wardens co-ordinator (a Warden of Wardens?) I hope to make contact with each warden by email before the next Pines and Chines distribution. If anyone would consider taking on this role, I would be happy to discuss what it would involve. Contact me by phone or email as listed below.
This person would not be responsible for delivering Pines & Chines to the Wardens; this task is already taken care of.
The tasks of our wardens are to:
- Deliver the Pines & Chines Magazines twice a year to the members in their “Street(s)”.
- To note people moving in and out during the year, keeping our Membership Secretary informed.
- To help recruit new members, especially incomers.
Wardens are NOT required to collect subscriptions.
As we have the AGM in April, there will be no open meeting in that month.
As ever, more volunteers to help with all aspects of our Association’s work would be very welcome. Just let me know if you would like to explore any possibilities further.
Hope to see you at the AGM.
