Well, Poole has a new member of Parliament, Neil Duncan-Jordan. We will be making contact with him to make sure he knows about the Association and what it does. We will try to meet with him as soon as possible. His new email address is: neil.duncanjordan.mp@parliament.uk
Also, very soon, we will have a new Leader of BCP Council as Vikki Slade is standing down from the role following her election as an MP. I understand her deputy Millie Earl will assume the role until the next full Council Meeting when a new leader should be elected.
Regarding the Beach Road carpark saga, we are still waiting a formal reply to our objection to the proposed timing of the next steps by the Council’s Cabinet and full Council meetings. I am not holding my breath regarding the possibility of a positive response. We may be able to challenge the Council over their unwillingness to reveal what price they are expecting to receive.
We will try to keep everyone informed via our website and monthly newsletters.
However, the emerging priority is to ensure, as a minimum, the Council restores the remainder of the carpark as promised and that any new building plans are properly scrutinized and challenged as necessary.
Finally, as details emerge, we will try to ascertain the impact the new government’s approach to housing targets, and planning procedures and decisions may have on our area.
A Plea renewed!
Unfortunately, we have still not found a volunteer to take on the vital role of Membership Secretary.
Without a Membership Secretary the Association cannot function; this is an urgent situation. We will ensure that whoever takes on this key role is fully supported. Please contact me to discuss (without obligation!) what is involved. Contact details below.
