How fitting it is to start a new decade with a totally refreshed nursery. The volunteers here at Chestnut Nursery have been working ever so hard to get the retail space and growing areas in tip top shape for the coming season.
You should all know by now, that we had a wonderful new shop built last year. However, the rest of the nursery has also required a lot of work, including new poly-tunnels, potting shed, water tank and irrigation, walk ways, retaining walls and much, much more. Thank you to all those within the community that helped rase the funds to buy materials. To implement these changes the volunteers of Chestnut have worked tirelessly. But as with all working nurseries, maintenance never stops and we are currently asking for paving slabs to lay down around the rapidly developing growing areas.
Its amazing what you can fit into a small but well-organized space. We now have the ability to grow and stock even more wonderful and healthy plants as well as all things a gardener might need. Having an extensive range of plants isn’t just for the benefit of our customers, however nice it is to hear your praising feedback. Growing lots of exciting new varieties and species keeps us busy and entertained. As a mental health charity, the therapeutic horticulture that we offer to our volunteers is enhanced by the plants we grow.
To support the charity its really simple, we always welcome donations but better still pay us a visit and make us your first port of call for plants and all things wonderful. Also please tell all your friends and neighbours about us. We are Chestnut Nursery, your local mental health charity and plant centre “Caring for People, Caring for Plants”
