August 2024 Newsletter

BCP Council now has a new leader, Millie Earl who replaces Vicki Slade who is now the MP for Mid Dorset and North Poole. Millie already knows the Association, particularly through our work on road safety matters. We will be making contact with him to make sure he knows about the Association and what it does. We will invite her to our next meeting.  Her Council email address is: Millie.Earl@bcpcouncil.gov.uk

The Beach Road carpark saga continues with the latest votes both in Cabinet and full Council meetings both showing that the Council will push ahead with this misguided proposal.

However, assisted by our two excellent Ward councillors, we will continue to work to the ensure, as a minimum, the Council restores the remainder of the carpark as promised and that any new building plans are properly scrutinized and challenged as necessary.

As details emerge, we will try to ascertain the impact the new government’s approach to housing targets and planning procedures and how these may have on our area. We are meeting our new MP at the end of the month and will raise these issues with him.

If there is a covenant on your property that may be affected by the Beach Road carpark proposals you should be able to claim compensation. In the first instance contact you Ward Councillor, John Challinor john.challinor@bcpcouncil.gov.uk

A Plea renewed!

Unfortunately, we have still not found a volunteer to take on the vital role of Membership Secretary.

Without a Membership Secretary the Association cannot function; this is an urgent situation. We will ensure that whoever takes on this key role is fully supported. Please contact me to discuss (without obligation!) what is involved. Contact details below.
